Ekman is in his first season playing junior hockey in North America

Dubuque Fighting Saints forward Melvin Ekman has committed to Colorado College, it was announced Thursday.

A product of Stockholm, Sweden, Ekman is in his first USHL season, collecting two goals and three assists for five points in 16 games so far with the Saints.

Prior to coming over to North America, Ekman played in Djurgardens IF's junior system, splitting time between the J18 and J20 levels last season.

With Ekman scheduled to join the Tigers next fall, it will be interesting to see the impact he can make at the NCAA level. As someone who can make the opposition pay if given time and space, Ekman could slot right into Colorado's lineup and not skip a beat.
