    Leksands IF forward Melvin Novotny has committed to UMass, it was announced on Saturday.

    A native of Täby, Sweden, Novotny played for Leksands IF's J20 team this past season, tallying 12 goals and 36 assists in 41 regular season games.

    Novotny was selected by the Buffalo Sabres in the seventh round, 195th overall, in the 2025 NHL Entry Draft.

    A 2007-born skater, Novotny will play for the Muskegon Lumberjacks in the USHL next season before making the jump to the NCAA and joining the Minutemen for the 2026-27 season.
