Miami's hockey program ignites with a remarkable turnaround. Head Coach Anthony Noreen's vision fuels a future of unprecedented success, securing his long-term commitment.

This morning, Miami University announced a multiyear extension for Head Coach Anthony Noreen through the 2031-32 Season.

I had a chance to talk with Noreen back around Thanksgiving and he discussed up his vision saying, "I wanted to implant an unwavering belief that we are going to get this program back to where I think anyone who knows it and has been around it and has seen it believes that it can be.”

And boy did Noreen succeed. In just his second season at Miami, Noreen guided the RedHawks to the most remarkable turnaround in college hockey. Miami went from 3-28-3 in 2024-25 to an 18-16-2 record this year including a Belpot Friendship Four Victory before an appearance in the NCHC Frozen Faceoff. This incredible leadership earned Noreen a nomination for the NCHC's Herb Brooks Coach of the Year.

Noreen said in a press release from Miami announcing his extension, "We are appreciative of the support the university, our alumni base and our supporters have given us so far, and I truly believe we are building something special here at Miami. We are fortunate to be here and couldn't be more excited about the future of Miami Hockey."

Star freshman forward David Deputy summed up the atmosphere in Oxford with Noreen at the helm saying, "Miami has been a sleeping giant for the past few years and we are trying to wake that up." The alarm clock is sounding for the rest of college hockey with Anthony Noreen driving the bus.
