The San Jose Sharks have invited Michigan State forward Gavin O'Connell to development camp, Mark Divver reported on Tuesday.
The freshman forward scored 15 goals for the Spartans last season in 38 games. He recorded 11 assists for 26 points as well. O'Connell finished the season tied for second on the team in goals and 12th in the Big Ten.
Before his freshman year, O'Connell spent two years in Waterloo of the USHL. In 2022-23 he had 24 goals, 26 assists, and 50 points with five game-winning goals.
The former Wayzata High School forward captained the team in his final season where he earned All-Metro and All-Conference honors.
He now gets the chance to impress and showcase his skills at an NHL Development Camp with the San Jose Sharks.
