Michigan State's Howard & Russell Named B1G First & Second Stars Of The Week
Michigan State Spartans forwards Isaac Howard and Daniel Russell took home B1G first and second stars of the week, it was announced Tuesday.
Howard, who has three goals and two assists through two games this season, took home first star while Russell took home second. Russell had an impressive start as well, putting up two goals and two assists in two games.
Drafted by the Tampa Bay Lightning in the first round of the 2022 NHL Draft, Howard is in his second season with the Spartans and third in the NCAA. Through 73 career games, he has collected 17 goals and 41 assists for 58 points. Prior to joining the Spartans, Howard spent one season with Minnesota-Duluth.
A product of Williamsburg, Mich., Russell has spent three seasons in the NCAA, all of them spent at Michigan State. Through 78 career games, he has scored 23 goals and added 36 assists for 59 points. Before making the jump to the NCAA, Russell played junior hockey in the NAHL (Minot Minotauros) and USHL (Fargo Force & Sioux Falls Stampede).
