The Red Wings prospect has seen action in three tournament games

Michigan State goaltender Trey Augustine is the only NCAA goalie on the U.S. World Championship roster but has shown no signs of his age or lack of professional experience on the big stage.
Drafted by the Red Wings in the second round of the 2023 NHL Draft, Augustine was one of four players named to the roster who played in the NCAA this past season.
Through three appearances so far at the tournament, Augustine is sporting a 2-1 record to go along with a 1.37 GAA and a .929 SV%.
Augustine has made his three appearances in the tournament against Poland, Slovakia and Germany with his game against Poland being his first and only start.
Augustine has tracked the puck with ease when he has seen the ice. Even with traffic in front, Augustine has kept pucks away from high danger areas and made it difficult for opponents to create off of rebounds.
Having completed his freshman season with the Spartans, Augustine looks likely to return next season. With a logjam in the Red Wings system that includes Ville Husso, Alex Lyon, and Sebastian Cossa, Red Wings management are in no rush to get Augustine to turn pro which will benefit his development in the long run.
