

The University of Minnesota announced today that Bob Motzko has signed an extension through the 2027-28 season.
Motzko is coming off a the 2023 Spencer Penrose Coach of the year award and currently holds a 119-64-14 career record with the Gophers.
Throughout his time with the Minnesota, Motzko has brought the Gophers to the Frozen Four in the last two seasons and holds a 6-3 record in the National Tournament.
"Bob has been a tremendous leader of our men's hockey program," Director of Athletics Mark Coyle said in a U-of-M Press release. "His ability to build a culture of success with our staff and student-athletes has led to achievements on the ice and for our team academically and socially. I am thrilled to have Bob continue to lead our men's hockey program into the future."
The Gophers have also had three straight 24 win seasons and has been named coach of the year three times in the last four years.
Minnesota is 6-4-2 on the year and hosts No. 7 ranked Michigan State this weekend. After a split against Notre Dame last season, the Gophers dropped from the No. 6 ranked team to No. 8 ranked in the NCAA.
