
The Minnesota Gophers announced their 2024-25 leadership group Wednesday, where it will see four players wearing the 'C'.
Ryan Chesley, Mike Koster, Mason Nevers and Jimmy Snuggerud will all have the 'C' on their chest this season with Aaron Huglen and Cal Thomas being named alternate captains.
Chesley, a 2022 second round pick of the Washington Capitals, finished his sophomore season with the Gophers in 2023-24, collecting two goals and six assists for eight points in 39 games.
Entering his final season of NCAA eligilbity, Koster scored two goals and added 12 assists for 14 points in 33 games last year while serving as captain.
Nevers, a product of Edina, Minn., also wore the 'C' for the Gophers last season. In 35 games, he collected three goals and 12 assists for 15 points.
Snuggerud was drafted by the St. Louis Blues in the first round of the 2022 NHL Draft. As one of the offensive leaders on the team last year, he put up 21 goals and 13 assists for 34 points in 39 games.
Rounding out the leadership group with the alternates, Huglen put up 21 points in 37 games with Minnesota during his junior season. A Utah Hockey Club prospect, Thomas had 10 points in 38 games in what was his sophomore season.
