Hage collected four points in two games with the Wolverines over the weekend

Montreal Canadiens prospect and current Michigan Wolverine Michael Hage had an impressive start to his NCAA career, collecting one goal and three assists in two games over the weekend.

Selected by the Canadiens in the first round of the 2024 NHL Draft, Hage got the chance to show Habs fans what he was made of in Michigan's opening pair of games versus Minnesota State.

What has allowed Hage to stand out immediately is how cerebral he is on the ice. Take for example his first career NCAA goal above. Whereas some players might have just taken the shot on the backhand, Hage slipped the puck between the defender's stick into open space, allowing himself the opportunity to get the shot off on his forehand and deposit the puck in the net.

Having played for the USHL's Chicago Steel over the past two seasons, Hage made noise during his draft year for his ability to take over games. In 54 regular season games last season, he scored 33 goals and added 42 assists for 75 points.

With Hage being given the opportunity to play in the top six out of the gates, he has proven that he belongs. As Canadiens fans get ready for the puck drop on the NHL season, they will have added excitement as they follow along with someone who will be a difference maker for the team in the near future.
