Saint John Sea Dogs defenseman Nate Tivey has committed to Quinnipiac, it was announced earlier this week.
Tivey, a product of Burlington, Ont., just finished his third season in the QMJHL and first as the captain of the Sea Dogs. Across 63 regular season games, Tivey scored five goals and added 35 assists for 40 points.
Since joining Saint John before the 2022-23 season, Tivey has collected 11 goals and 81 assists for 92 points in 192 career QMJHL regular season games. Before heading out east, he played part of one season with the GOJHL's Hamilton Kilty B's and the OJHL's Georgetown Raiders.
With Tivey set to join the Wildcats this fall, he will be bringing an offensively inclined game from the backend. Capable of creating plays with his vision, Tivey is a good candidate to grab a role out of the gates and hang onto it during his freshman season.
