Northern Michigan announced Tuesday that head coach Grant Potulny has stepped down. Athletic Director Rick Comley will take over as the interim head coach as the school looks for a replacement immediately.
"Grant is a very good hockey coach and professional teams have realized that," said Comley in the team's release. "On behalf of Northern, I want to thank Grant and his staff for their outstanding work with the Wildcat Hockey program, and wish them great success with their new teams."
Potulny led Northern Michigan to a 12-16-6 overall and 10-10-4 conference record last season. He led the Wildcats to two conference championship games in the past four seasons.
The Wildcats also announced that associate head coach Byron Pool and assistant coach Nick Peruzzi have also stepped down to accept coaching positions elsewhere.
