Victoria Grizzlies goaltender Oliver Auyeung-Ashton has committed to Northern Michigan, it was announced last week.

Auyeung-Ashton, a product of Coquitlam, B.C., just finished his third season with the Grizzlies, going 15-7-3 along with a 3.29 GAA and a .909 SP in 27 regular season appearances. With the Grizzlies also going on a deep playoff run, Auyeung-Ashton got into 11 playoff contests, going 8-3 along while posting a 3.01 GAA and a .916 SP.

Having joined the Grizzlies prior to the 2022-23 season, Auyeung-Ashton has been a staple on the team ever since, getting into 96 regular season games while putting up a stat line of 50-29-12, a 2.86 GAA and a .916 SP. His time in the BCHL also saw him take home the Bruce Allison Memorial Trophy as Rookie of the Year as well as being named to the All-Rookie Team.

With Auyeung-Ashton heading to join the Wildcats this fall, he could be one to watch for. Although he may not have the prerequisite height that many like to see in a goalie these days (he stands at 5-foot-10), Auyeung-Ashton's compete level is always evident and he should challenge for playing time during his freshman season.
