Pittsburgh Penguins prospect Cooper Foster brings playmaking elite vision to the Lakers' roster, fresh off a dominant career with the OHL’s Ottawa 67s.

Lake Superior State has just earned the services of a consistent offensive producer. Cooper Foster announced his commitment to the Lakers this afternoon via Instagram.  The Sault Ste. Marie, ON native was selected in the 6th Round (174th Overall) of the 2023 NHL Draft by the Pittsburgh Penguins.

Foster has good vision, and maneuvers well around opponents toward the middle of the ice. Over the past three seasons with the Ottawa 67s, he has averaged at or near a point per game. His final OHL campaign saw him earn 66 points (29 goals + 37 assists) through 66 outings. Prior to Foster's time in Ottawa, he won a 2022 Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League (NOJHL) Championship and league MVP honors as a member of the Soo Thunderbirds

The Lakers finished in seventh out of the CCHA's nine places. They earned an 8-16-2 record, before falling to St. Thomas in the Mason Cup Quarterfinals. If Foster is put on a line with fellow underclassmen Calem Mangone and Hunter Ramos, Lake Superior State could make some waves offensively this coming season.
