Following a career-best 30-goal season in the WHL, Matteo Danis brings his offensive production to the Ivy League.
After concluding his nearly five season junior career in the WHL, Penticton Vees alternate captain Matteo Danis is going to Brown. Danis revealed the commitment during his end of season media availability this morning, shown below.
"I committed to play at Brown University for next year," said Danis. "I've kind of kept that quiet the past couple weeks. Hopefully just a stepping stone of going pro one day."
After being selected from the Prince George Cougars in the 2025 WHL Expansion Draft, Danis had a career season. In 65 regular season games, the Vees' assistant captain had 59 points (30 goals + 29 assists). His nine additional playoff helpers in 15 outings led all Penticton players.
The leading offensive producer last season for Brown, Benjamin Poitras, finished with only 10 goals in 38 contests. Brown as a whole finished last in the ECAC with only 63 goals. Needless to say, the Bears will put Danis' scoring skills to work this fall.
