The Pittsburgh Penguins have signed former Michigan Tech defenseman Chase Pietila to a three-year entry-level contract, it was announced Sunday.
Pietila, a 2024 fourth round pick of the Penguins, just wrapped up his sophomore season with the Huskies where he scored seven goals and added 15 assists for 22 points in 36 games. Across two seasons in the NCAA, Pietila put up 10 goals and 34 assists for 44 points in 76 games.
Prior to making the jump, Pietila played his junior hockey for the USHL's Lincoln Stars and the Youngstown Phantoms.
With Pietila now turning to the pro game, he will likely start his career with the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins. As someone who makes good decisions with the puck on his stick, Pietila has earned this deal and will be one to watch as he continues to develop.
