Vermont's rising sophomore forward Aegerter relies on pure speed and a "Swiss Army knife" approach. Simple is better for this fun-loving player.

From living life, to his style of hockey, simple is better for Jonah Aegerter. The rising sophomore at Vermont is a fun loving forward. When it comes to Aegerter's game, he sums it up in one word. "I would say speed," Aegerter said. "I like to play fast and make sure my legs are always moving. That's a big one for me."

Aegerter was well traveled over his junior career, making stops in the North American Hockey League, British Columbia Hockey League, and United States Hockey League. This past season, Aegerter notched 15 points (7 goals + 8 assists) in 32 games for the Catamounts in his freshman year.

He said his five years of juniors were over in a "snap of your fingers," but it helps motivate Aegerter to not overthink his game.

"Honestly I just read, react and don't overthink," Aegerter said. "Whenever everyone plays their best they have their brain off.  I skate when I can, pass when I can and shoot when I can. I enjoy being a Swiss Army knife."

The Janesville, WI native is isn't worried about where his path will take him through college and beyond. What is certain is that Aegerter will bring his work ethic and leadership to every spot along the way. He's not in hurry though, and summed up his philosophy both on and off the ice to me

"I try to enjoy each day and have fun with it. It's kind of simple but simple is better in my opinion."
