Standing 6-foot-5 with a sandpaper edge, this Rangers prospect pairs massive size with elite vision to anchor Western Michigan’s top line and dismantle opposing threats.
Gritty, hard and tough. That's how Western Michigan junior forward Ty Henricks describes himself. After a strong sophomore year in 2025-26, Henricks certainly has the numbers to back it up.
The secret behind Henricks' success is the way he pairs his 6 foot 5, 209 pound frame with great vision. These two elements put together allow Henricks to see and eliminate threats before they fully materialize. When I spoke with Henricks, he mentioned a specific forward as a player model.
"I like Jason Robertson," said Henricks. "But with a little bit more sandpaper."
Henricks was a fixture on the top line's left wing last season. Across 39 games, he notched 25 points (9 goals + 16 assists) including a team second and NCHC sixth 43 penalty minutes.
Before entering the collegiate ranks, Henricks played for the Muskegon Lumberjacks after a stint with the Fargo Force. In 138 USHL games, he recorded 51 points (26 goals + 25 assists). Following his 2022-23 campaign, Henricks was selected in the 6th Round (183rd overall) of the 2023 NHL Draft by the New York Rangers. The Mission Viejo, CA native told me his simple message for the Blueshirts saying, "I'm just going to keep playing hard and good things will happen."
With a 2025 National Championship under his belt and his left wing spot waiting, good things are well underway as Henricks prepares for his junior year.
