Brandon Wheat Kings defenseman Quinn Mantei has committed to Providence College, it was announced earlier this week.

A product of Weyburn, Sask., Mantei just finished his fourth season with the Wheat Kings and first as captain of the team, scoring seven goals and adding 38 assists for 45 points in 64 regular season games. Having appeared in five playoff games as well, Mantei collected two goals and six points.

Drafted by the Wheat Kings in first round of the 2020 WHL Bantam Draft, Mantei has played in 250 career regular season games, putting up 14 goals and 98 assists for 112 points. Prior to making the jump to the WHL, Matei played his minor hockey with the Weyburn Wings and the Moose Jaw Warriors.

Set on joining the Friars in the fall, Providence will be getting a smart, puck moving defender who is capable of playing big minutes as well as being a leader on and off the ice. While his role is yet to be determined, Mantei will be an important part of the blueline for years to come.
