RIT will be with a new leadership group this year, led by some players who play the game the right way and will set a great example for the rest of the team.
Senior defenseman Kevin Scott has been named captain of the RIT men’s hockey team for the 2026-27 season, with senior forward Christian Catalano, senior defenseman Ben Roger, senior forward Matthew Wilde and junior defenseman Tristan Allen as alternate captains.
“This group is very deserving of being named our captains,” said RIT head coach Thomas. “Scott epitomizes what we expect from our players daily. He has earned that captaincy through consistency. The four assistants all drive our team play and culture with pride and passion, and we are excited to see all of them continue to lead this season.”
Scott moves from an alternate captain role to captain after leading the Tigers with 34 blocked shots in 34 appearances last season. A three-time Atlantic Hockey America (AHA) All-Academic Team member and two-time American Hockey Coaches Association (AHCA) All-American Scholar, Scott has recorded 78 blocked shots and 11 points, all assists, in 98 career games.
Catalano enters his senior season with 62 career points on 26 goals and 36 assists over 105 games. A Hobey Baker Award nominee last season, he ranked fourth on the team with 22 points and tied for third with 10 goals while appearing in every game. He is also a three-time AHA All-Academic Team honoree and AHCA All-American Scholar.
Roger appeared in 35 games during his first season at RIT after transferring from St. Mary’s University in Nova Scotia. He recorded 14 points, including 11 assists, while ranking third on the team with 32 blocked shots.
Wilde returns to RIT after spending one season at UMass. During his first stint with the team, he totaled 67 points on 37 goals and 30 assists in 67 games. He earned AHA First-Team All-Conference honors in 2024-25 after leading the conference with 0.69 goals per game and ranking second with 1.23 points per game.
Allen has recorded 30 points on three goals and 27 assists in 69 career games. Last season, he ranked second on the team with 14 assists and 33 blocked shots.
