Rutger McGroarty announced today he will return to Michigan for his junior season instead of turning pro.

This is huge for Michigan especially considering Frank Nazar signed with the Chicago Blackhawks a few days ago and both Gavin Brindley and Dylan Duke signed with their respective teams that drafted them.

But those three leaving didn't make Rutger McGroarty sign with the Winnipeg Jets after he announced on his instagram today that he will be returning to Michigan for his Junior season.

McGroarty, 20, was the Jets' 14th overall pick in the 2022 NHL draft and has spent the last two seasons with the Wolverines where he has put up a total of 34 goals, 57 assists, and 91 points in 75 games for Michigan.

Last season, McGroarty recorded 16 goals and 52 points in 36 games. He was tied for fifth on the team in goals but ranked second in points just one behind Brindley who played in four more games than McGroarty.

This is good news for Michigan considering the players who have recently left to sign in the NHL.
