Lucas signed with the Gulls late last season while Kinal spent time in both AHL and ECHL in 2023-24

The San Diego Gulls have signed former Huskies defensemen Andrew Lucas and Roman Kinal to one-year contracts, the team announced Thursday.

Lucas, a native of Alexandria, Va., joined the Gulls late last season when his season with the Huskies was finished. In six regular season games with the Gulls, Lucas had three assists.

Over the course of his five-year NCAA career, Lucas suited up for the Huskies and the University of Vermont, scoring 16 goals and adding 56 assists for 72 points in 152 career games.

Kinal, a product of Waterford, Mich., joins the Gulls after suiting up for the San Jose Barracuda and Wichita Thunder (ECHL) last season. In 22 games with the Barracuda, Kinal registered an assist. With Wichita, he scored seven goals and added 11 assists for 18 points in 45 regular season games.

Prior to turning pro at the end of the 2022-23 season, Kinal spent five years with the Huskies, putting up 27 points in 121 career games.

As Lucas and Kinal head into their first full season in San Diego, they will most likely both spend time with the Tulsa Oilers as well.
