Yesterday the NHL Draft Lottery took place. The San Jose Sharks were the team to get the No. 1 overall pick and the rights to draft Boston University stud, Macklin Celebrini.
Celebrini, 17, is the consensus first overall pick in the 2024 NHL Draft. So much so, that ESPN invited Celebrini to the NHL Network Studios to have him join the show.
The young Boston University star is coming off a freshman season in which he won the Hobey Baker for the best player in College Hockey. Celebrini recorded 32 goals and 64 points in 38 games this year for the Terriers.
The San Jose Sharks General Manager played three years at Boston University before he played in the NHL. He confirmed on the show yesterday that the Sharks will draft Celebrini with the first pick and believes Celebrini is ready to play in the NHL.
