St. Francis Xavier defenseman Simon Motew has committed to Maine, it was announced Friday.
Motew, who recently wrapped up his first season in U Sports, scored three goals and added 12 assists for 15 points in 25 regular season games. In a further two playoff games with the X-Men, Motew has held pointless.
A product of Highland Park, Ill., Motew spent parts of four seasons playing in the OHL with the Kitchener Rangers between 2019 and 2024, putting up 21 goals and 66 assists for 87 points in 212 career regular season games.
Prior to making the jump to the OHL, Motew played his minor hockey with the Chicago Mission.
With Motew heading to the Black Bears next season, he joins a growing list of CHL players from U Sports to announced their NCAA commitments for next season. As someone who is offensively inclined from the backend, Motew should be a solid addition to Maine's blueline for 2025-26.
