

Drummondville Voltigeurs defenseman Simon-Pier Brunet has committed to Merrimack, it was announced earlier this week.
A 2024 fourth round pick of the Buffalo Sabres, Brunet just finished his third full season in the QMJHL, scoring eight goals and adding 24 assists for 32 points in 60 regular season games. In a further seven playoff games, Brunet notched a goal.
Drafted by the Voltigeurs in the fifth round of the 2021 QMJHL Entry Draft, Brunet has appeared in 164 career regular season games across parts of four seasons, putting up 13 goals and 38 assists for 51 points.
Prior to that, the Gatineau, Que., product played his minor hockey with the Gatineau Intrépide Bantam as well as the Outaouais Intrépide Bantam and Outaouais Intrépide Espoir.
With Brunet likely to join the Warriors this fall, he will get the chance to develop further at the NCAA level before looking to make the jump into the Sabres organization. A smooth skating defender, Brunet makes his presence felt at both ends of the ice and should be an impactful player for Merrimack.
