LaPinta spent this past season playing in the USHL
Sioux Falls Stampede forward Chase LaPinta has de-committed from Arizona State and will head to Omaha-Nebraska this fall, Brad Elliott Schlossman reported earlier this week.
LaPinta, who is coming off his first and only season in the USHL, split the year between the Dubuque Fighting Saints and the Sioux Falls Stampede.
In 35 games with the Saints, LaPinta had 31 points. Acquired by the Stampede at the trade deadline, LaPinta put up 10 goals and five assists in 14 regular season games and added three points in three playoff games.
LaPinta also played a season with the Minot Minotauros (NAHL) and had 56 points in 51 games.
As LaPinta makes the jump to the NCAA next season, he has the chance to be an impact player for the Mavericks. While he stands at 5-foot-9, LaPinta is confident with the puck and has a knack for finding open space in the offensive zone to unleash his shot.
