Victoria Grizzlies forward Tobias Pitka has committed to Northern Michigan, it was announced late last week.
Pitka, a product of Poprad, Slovakia, just finished his second season with the Grizzlies, scoring 15 goals and adding 23 assists for 38 points in 41 regular season games. In a further 17 playoff games, Pitka added eight goals and four assists for 12 points.
Over 87 career BCHL regular season games, Pitka has put up 20 goals and 37 assists for 57 points. Prior to joining the BCHL, Pitka played for South Kent School and Selects Academy.as well as appearing in five games with the USHL's Green Bay Gamblers.
With Pitka scheduled to make the jump to the Wildcats this fall, the towering forward will bring a good mix of smarts and size to the lineup. Capable of making plays in small areas, Pitka can find teammates through pressure as well as create chances for himself. He should be an impact player for Northern Michigan sooner rather than later.
