Providence’s sleek gray sweaters transform the Friars into armored warriors. By ditching cluttered wordmarks for a bold crest, this streamlined alternate look commands authority on the ice.
Providence College's gray third jerseys push their way into Number 9 on our list of the top ten Top Ten Jerseys in College Hockey. The usual home and away sweaters of the Friars have too much going on. With the logo and wordmark on the front, it doesn't feel clear which should be your primary focus. That all changed with these exquisite new look grays.

The crest on the gray background is like a knight's coat of arms heading into battle-albeit one on ice. Its pronounced black shoulders reinforce the athlete's imposing frame, feeding into the armor aesthetic. Well placed sleeve stripes at the elbow provide the perfect accent to the black and white gloves.
Last season, the Friars won their first outright Hockey East Championship with a record of 23-11-2. They lost a close contest in overtime of the Hockey East Quarterfinals to Merrimack and were knocked out of the NCAA Tournament at the Sioux Falls Regional by Quinnipiac. Providence was powered by Chicago Blackhawks prospects John Mustard and Julius Sumpf. Mustard led the squad with 17 goals, 29 points and 46 penalty minutes in 36 games. Sumpf dished out a team best 17 assists in the same span. Many key pieces including the duo mentioned above are returning this fall. With reinforcements from juniors and the transfer portal arriving, the Friars could make a run.
After their on ice successes, now might be the time for a wardrobe upgrade. If an opportunity arises, Providence College should make these the primary home jersey, rather than the current whites.
