Prokop was a Hobby Baker nominee this past season with the Garnet Chargers

Union College defenseman John Prokop has been invited to Vegas Golden Knights development camp, Mark Divver reported Saturday

Prokop is coming off an impressive sophomore season that saw him finish as a Hobey Baker nominee as well as being named to the NCAA (East) Second All-American Team and ECAC First All-Star Team.

In 36 games played this season, he scored eight goals and added 27 assists for 35 points, good for first in points on his team.

Over the course of 71 career NCAA games, Prokop has 12 goals and 58 points.

Prior to joining Union, Prokop played for the Janesville Jets (NAHL) as well as in the USHL for the Omaha Lancers, Muskegon Lumberjacks, Green Bay Gamblers and Des Moines Buccaneers.

Over parts of four seasons in the USHL, Prokop collected 40 points in 170 games.

Emerging as a go-to player for Union, Prokop will have a lot of eyes on him next season. As someone who makes great plays with the puck and can create for himself, he has put himself on the radar and is a strong candidate to get an ELC from Vegas or another NHL team.
