McDonough spent four years at Northeastern between 2019-2023

The Vancouver Canucks will not qualify former Northeastern forward Aidan McDonough, Rick Dhaliwal reported Thursday.

Dhaliwal also reported that McDonough 'will have interest on the July 1st market.'

A native of Milton, Mass., McDonough just finished his first full season in the Canucks organization. In 58 regular season games with Abbotsford, he scored 11 goals and added eight assists for 19 points. McDonough also appeared in two playoff games with Abbotsford where he was held pointless.

Drafted by the Canucks in the seventh round of the 2019 NHL Draft, McDonough spent four seasons playing for Northeastern where he had 66 goals and 58 assists for 124 points in 124 career games.

While the Canucks are letting him walk, McDonough could be worth taking a flier on for a team looking for depth. He had a really successful NCAA career and should only get better as he gets more pro experience under his belt.
