Vermont defenseman Luca Munzenberger has signed a one-year deal in Germany with Kolner Haie, it was announced late last week.

Munzenberger, a product of Dusseldorf, Germany, just finished his senior season with the Catamounts, scoring five goals and adding seven assists for 12 points in 31 games. Over 123 career NCAA games, Munzenberger collected six goals and 17 assists for 23 points.

A 2021 third round pick of the Edmonton Oilers, Munzenberger spent his time playing his minor and junior hockey in Germany before heading over to the U.S. in 2021. Throughout his time playing in his home country, Munzenberger played for Kolner EC (U16 level) and Kolner Junghaie (U17 & U20 levels).

With Munzenberger heading back to Germany to begin his professional career, he should be able to adjust to the DEL without too much trouble. A smooth-skating defender who has experience representing his country at the international level, Munzenberger will likely see a solid role with Kolner Haie in his first season with the team.
