Wisconsin has lost another forward to the Transfer Portal with Cruz Lucius looking for a new home. The former Minnesota Gopher commit ended up decommitting when his brother Chaz decided to leave Minnesota after his first season. Cruz then committed to the Badgers.
In his first season, Cruz played on the top line and put up 11 goals and 34 points in 34 games. He was drafted by the Carolina Hurricanes in the fourth-round of 2022 but was moved at the NHL Trade Deadline to the Pittsburgh Penguins in a big deal that sent former Omaha Maverick forward Jake Guentzel to Carolina.
Lucius, 20, played on the Badgers top line again last season and put up 13 goals and 34 points in 36 games but now wants a change of scenery for his Junior season.
Cruz joins four other Badgers teammates in the portal currently.
