The Wisconsin senior became the first Badger goalie to win the award

Wisconsin's Kyle McClellan has won the Mike Richter Award, awarded to the most outstanding goalie in the NCAA, it was announced Friday.

The native of Manchester, MO., had an incredible senior season with the Badgers, posting a 24-12-1 record to go along with a 1.94 goals against average and a .931 save percentage. McClellan became the first Badgers goalie to win the award.

Over the course of 82 NCAA games split between Mercyhurst and Wisconsin, McClellan has a 41-35-3 record, along with a 2.35 goals against average and a .926 save percentage. 

The other finalists for the award included Boston College's Jacob Fowler and Colorado College's Kaiden Mbereko.
