Herres is playing for the NAHL's Wisconsin Windigo this season
Wisconsin Windigo defenseman Wyatt Herres has committed to UMass Lowell, it was announced late last week.
Herres, who hails from Appleton, Wis., has split time this season between the Windigo and Team Wisconsin of the Upper Midwest High School Elite Hockey League (UMHSEHL). In 24 games with the Windigo, Herres has collected three assists while putting up a goal and three points in nine games with Team Wisconsin.
Prior to making the jump to the junior level in 2024-25, Herres played for Notre Dame Academy (USHS) and Team Wisconsin 16U last year.
With Herres making the jump to the River Hawks in 2026, he will most likely transition to juniors full time next season. Having proven to be able to make a difference at both ends of the ice, Herres should only continue to get better as time goes on.
