Trail Smoke Eaters forward Zach Coutu has committed to Alaska Anchorage, it was announced earlier this week.

Coutu, a product of Edmonton, Alta., is in part of his first season with the Smoke Eaters, having put up one goal and 15 assists for 16 points in 12 games. Coutu started the season with the AJHL's Canmore Eagles, putting up 29 points in 28 games.

Having made the jump to the junior level at the end of the 2022-23 season, Coutu spent parts of three seasons with the Eagles before making the trek to the BCHL.

During his minor hockey days, Coutu played for the SSAC Lions, SSAC Bulldogs and the Edmonton Jr. Oilers.

With Coutu set to join the Seawolves in 2026, he will have the opportunity to continue to hone his craft in the BCHL. Having impressed in a small sample size thus far, Coutu is primed to continue to make an impact before heading off to the NCAA.
