Nyman was considered a top prospect for the 2024 OHL Priority Selection but opted to go the NCAA route

Penticton Vees defenseman Zach Nyman has committed to the University of Michigan for the 2026-27 season, it was announced this past week.

Nyman, who hails from Toronto, Ont., was considered one of the top prospects eligible for the 2024 OHL Priority Selection this past April.

Although he was drafted in the fifth round by the Brampton Steelheads, Nyman was already known to be heading for the NCAA and made his commitment official August 1.

Having played for the Vaughan Kings U16 AAA team in 2023-24, Nyman had four goals and 21 assists for 25 points in 31 GTHL regular season games.

Born in 2008, Nyman will be one of the younger players in the BCHL next season. While he stands at 5-foot-9, Nyman is a dynamic, skilled puck mover who can create for himself and others. He will certainly be one to watch over the next few years.
