22 players on the U.S. World Junior team play college hockey

When the United States National Junior Team takes the ice at the World Junior Ice Hockey Championships on Thursday in Ottawa, O.N., college hockey will be well represented.

Of the 25 players selected to represent the U.S., 22 currently play in the NCAA. 11 different schools are represented.

Boston College is the most represented school, boasting six players on the team. Ryan Leonard, Gabe Perreault, Drew Fortescue, and Aram Minnetian were all a part of the gold medal-winning squad from last year, and James Hagens and Teddy Stiga make their first appearance with the under-20s.

Crosstown rival Boston University is represented by Cole Eiserman, Brandon Svoboda, and Cole Hutson. The only other Hockey East school with a player selected is Providence, which is sending Trevor Connelly.

The Big Ten is sending six players. Oliver Moore and Brodie Ziemer from Minnesota, Danny Nelson and Paul Fischer from Notre Dame, Logan Hensler from Wisconsin, and Trey Augustine from Michigan State.

The NCHC is also sending six players in Max Plante and Adam Kleber from Minnesota-Duluth, Austin Burnevik and Colin Ralph from St. Cloud State, Zeev Buium from Denver, and Hampton Slukynsky from Western Michigan.

Additionally, Leonard will captain the team and Buium, Moore, Nelson, and Perreault will serve as alternate captains.
