1. I don't know about You, but I'm not too crazy about K'Andre Miller's opening dissertation on arriving in Carolina. "It's going to be so much fun being on the other side."
2. No, I didn't mind that too much but dig the D-man's follow-up: "...and not getting hemmed in our D!"
3. You, my dear K pal, were one of the reasons that breaking out of their end for the Rangers was like swimming the Hudson River to Albany – backwards.
4. I don't consider the Hurricanes a Cup threat even with the additions of Miller and Nikolaj Ehlers. GM Eric Tulsky should wake up to the fact that his problem is goaltending and specifically Fred Andersen.
5. Toronto fans – so happy to see Mitch Marner go – will be sorry he's gone once the season starts and the Leafs look lousy without him.
6. In terms of helping the Leafs, John Tavares should have been released. J.T. was imported to Toronto and got outrageous bucks to help win a Cup. (Yoo-hoo, Moo-hoo, John, we're still waiting!)
7. I missed Anthony Beauvillier the day he left the Islanders – and still miss the dear boy. But for Beau's sake, I'm glad he re-upped with the Capitals.
8. Now that Brent Burns has proven that he owns the longest beard in league history, my suggestion is that he find the nearest barber in Denver and return to hirsuit sanity.
9. It's 20-plus years for Burns and still no Stanley Cup sip in his life. Maybe in 2026 for the BB gun.
What To Make Of The Rangers' Offseason Moves
It's Friday, folks, and time for the "Ask The Maven Frenzy." Today's question comes from Moe Manvogle of Manhattan. Take it away, Moe:
10. Kudos to Patrick Roy for telling the Isles media that he'll apologize IN PERSON to Anthony Duclair for ripping the forward with a "god awful game" putdown late last season.
11. Roy's outburst was a heat of the moment kind of thing; and not the worst rip in the world. (If it had happened in Original Six days, the player would have apologized to the coach for a bum outing – along with a ticket to the AHL!
