Every draft has its own flavor, and 2019 is shaping up to be seriously American. Right at the top, of course, we have Jack Hughes. But his teammates from the U.S. National Team Development Program won’t be far behind. This is shaping up to be a record year for USA Hockey’s shiniest gem. While the NTDP typically contributes about 10 to 12 players per draft class, this year could see nearly every eligible player get an NHL jersey, including both goalies.
When constructing this year’s top 100, we had to be cognizant of how many NTDP players were on the list. Players such as Marshall Warren, Case McCarthy and Cameron Rowe easily could have made it under the bubble, but at the same time, it’s important to cover off the entire draft landscape in these pages (not that whittling the list down to 100 is ever an easy task).
This year’s bios were compiled by senior writers Ken Campbell and Ryan Kennedy, using quotes and information gathered throughout the season from scouts and executives who work for NHL teams. The ranking is not a mock draft, but more a reflection of best player available.
