The Detroit Red Wings announced on Friday that they will be entering the 2026-27 NHL season without a captain.

The news came in a series of statements released by the organization as well as Dylan Larkin, who previously wore the 'C' and reportedly requested a trade earlier this summer.

The franchise announced that Larkin will attend training camp next week, but won't be apart of the team's leadership core for the foreseeable future.
