Ottawa Senators fans are not holding back on Brady Tkachuk's return to the nation's capital. Here's how the hockey world is reacting to the chants and intense action between the Senators and the Florida Panthers.
Ottawa Senators fans did not hold back in the early stages of Brady Tkachuk's return to Canada's capital city.
Tkachuk, asking for a trade to the Florida Panthers to join his brother Matthew, left Senators fans in a bad mood with the way he left. And the citizens of Ottawa and fans in the Canadian Tire Centre showered the former Senators captain in warmups with boos, and they never stopped through puck drop and throughout the contest.
The only time the booing took a pause was for a moment of silence and the national anthems.
After the first TV timeout, the Senators played Tkachuk's tribute video, and the crowd booed throughout the entire clip. And once he stepped on the ice to salute the fans, it only got more intense.
Sens fans had a variety of chants ready for Tkachuk, including "Brady sucks," "F--k you, Brady," "You can't read," and more.
"Don’t tell me Ottawa doesn’t have heart," @DThoughts_USA posted on X.
"Hate to say it but I respect the hell out of Sens fans for this," @JoGoesToMovies said on social media.
It didn't take long for the 27-year-old to give the home fans an even greater reason to boo, as he scored the first goal of the outing on the power play for the Panthers.
"Of course he did," @RacingDFS posted on X.
"Owner of Ottawa," @DownBadDolphins reacted to Tkachuk's goal.
"Brady proceeding to open the scoring im crying bro," @Porretta_27 said.
Feeding off that energy, there was a fight between Bokondji Imama and Hayden Hodgson.
Later in the first period, Tim Stutzle, longtime linemate of Tkachuk, scored on the power play for the Senators, and the crowd erupted.
"stutzle owns florida," @CharlesWagen replied on X.
"this sounds like a playoff game," @sabreshell said.
A little later, Matthew Tkachuk sparked an aggressive scrum after spraying Ottawa goaltender Linus Ullmark. Of course, it was an opportunity for Brady Tkachuk to get jumped by a few of his former teammates.
"OH THEY HATEEEEE HIM LMAOOOOO," @sopekoookie posted.
"Ohhh so they HATED hated him," @mellow_nie91 said.
