If you see a bunch of young, athletic-looking guys getting carded at bars in Herning, Denmark and Stockholm over the next couple of weeks, it'll probably be the USA national men's hockey team.
While Canada loaded up with a veteran-laden wagon for the World Championship, which begins Friday, USA has doubled and tripled down on youth, going with a group that should provide no end of excitement, puck pressure, pace and, probably, a few mistakes.
The Americans have four guys who were NHL rookies this season on their roster and three who played college hockey. When your oldest player is 31-year-old Brady Skjei, you know you're a young team. From the likes of Will Smith and Cutter Gauthier to Logan Cooley and Clayton Keller, USA could very well end up being must viewing.
And although last year's winners, Czechia, and silver medalists, Switzerland, are in Team USA's Group B, also having Denmark, Germany, Hungary, Kazakhstan and Norway to face in the round-robin puts the Americans in a desirable spot to do some damage.
Watch today's video column to learn more about Team USA's history at the men's World Championship and what this year's squad can bring.
