Following nearly a full season on LTIR last year with the Maple Leafs, Jake Muzzin will remain there again this season.

Toronto GM Brad Treliving confirmed the news on Wednesday morning, the Maple Leafs' media day.

"There's no change with Jake Muzzin," Treliving told the media. "Jake won't be participating this year."

Muzzin has dealt with a number of injuries of this kind dating all the way back to the 2020 NHL Play-In series vs. the Columbus Blue Jackets which saw the 34-year-old stretchered off the ice in Game 2 after taking a cross-check from Pierre-Luc Dubois.

The latest injury Muzzin suffered was a cervical spine injury in early October 2022. He hasn't played since then but has been seen frequently around the Maple Leafs and Marlies practice facilities.

This is the final year of Muzzin's contract with the Maple Leafs and his $5.625 million cap hit will remain on LTIR for the entire season.
