The Dallas Stars have signed Joe Pavelski to a one-year contract extension. He has 200 points in 243 games with the Stars.

Salary Cap Projections Update For Next Season

The Dallas Stars once again locked up one of their key veteran forwards.

The Stars kicked off the New Year with a bang on Sunday, announcing that the club has come to terms on a one-year contract extension with forward Joe Pavelski that carries an average annual value of $3.5 million.

Pavelski, who is now tied to Dallas through the 2023-24 season, signed an extremely similar deal around this time last year and will be nearing his 40th birthday when his newly-signed extension expires.

You wouldn't know Pavelski is inching closer to age 40 by looking at him this season, though.

Pavelski followed up a terrific campaign in 2021-22 with a similar torrid start in this one, scoring at practically a point-per-game pace once again while racking up 12 goals and 25 assists for 37 points in 38 games. At this point, Pavelski seemingly gets better with age. The Wisconsin native hasn't slowed down at all since leaving San Jose for Dallas as a free agent in 2019, and he's scored a whopping 200 points in 243 games with the Stars over three seasons.

The Stars, who currently sit atop the Pacific Division with a five-point lead over the second-place Winnipeg Jets, have had a tremendous start to the year thanks to a blistering offensive attack anchored by Pavelski, and are now hoping to extend that potency beyond this season.

If Pavelski keeps scoring at the clip he has for the past three years, that assumption will look like a wise one.
