MONTREAL – The NHL and the Players’ Association will announce the officially announce the figures later Friday, but TheHockeyNews.com has confirmed the salary cap in the NHL for next season will be $56.8 million per team.

That means the floor will be $40.8 million.

The league and NHLPA have finalized the amount in advance of free agent season next week. THN.com has also learned the players triggered the five percent growth factor into the amount as allowed by the collective bargaining agreement.

There were fears that with the sagging economy the ceiling would drop because of declining revenues.
