The NHLPA has announced 22 players elected for salary arbitration.

July 5 at 5 p.m. ET was the deadline for players to notify the NHLPA, team and NHL Central Registry that they elect for arbitration. The deadline for the second window of club-elected salary arbitration is Thursday at 5 p.m. ET. Arbitration hearings will take place between July 20 and August 4, according to the NHLPA release.

Players electing for arbitration include the Anaheim Ducks’ Troy Terry, who had 61 points in 70 games this past season, breakout defenseman Vince Dunn of the Seattle Kraken and Tampa Bay lightning acquisition Tanner Jeannot. Goalies Ilya Samsonov of the Toronto Maple Leafs, Jeremy Swayman of the Boston Bruins and Filip Gustavsson of the Minnesota Wild also chose this route.

Some players acquired via trade this off-season have also elected for arbitration, including the Winnipeg Jets’ Gabriel Vilardi and the Colorado Avalanche’s Ross Colton.

These players cannot accept their qualifying offers and can no longer sign any offer sheets.

Players and teams can still agree on a new contract before their arbitration hearings begin. Once the hearings are held, the arbitrator can only award a one- or two-year contract, with the party that didn't elect the arbitration selecting the term. If a player is only one year away from qualifying as a UFA, only one year can be awarded.

If the arbitrator awards the player a salary of $4,538,958 or more, teams can choose to walk away from that contract and make the player a UFA, according to PuckPedia.
