The OHL has suspended all team activities for the Sudbury Wolves after 12 players tested positive for COVID-19.
The NHL is far from the only league to be ravaged by the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
The junior ranks are not immune from the impact of this virus either, as it was revealed on Tuesday afternoon that 12 players on the OHL's Sudbury Wolves have tested positive for COVID-19. In accordance with the established protocols, the Ontario Hockey League announced soon after that they have suspended all team activities for the Wolves indefinitely, including, among other things, postponing the team's game versus the Soo Greyhounds on December 1st, and their matchups with the Barrie Colts on December 3rd and 4th.
According to the official statement released by the league, all players who tested positive are either asymptomatic or exhibiting mild symptoms, providing a modicum of good news amid this growing concern.
Unlike the NHL, the OHL abides by a strict vaccination mandate, requiring all players, staff members, officials, and billet families to have been fully vaccinated prior to the start of the regular season. One can only imagine how much worse an outbreak of this magnitude could have been if the players infected were unvaccinated.
Details regarding the rescheduling of the Wolves' postponed games have yet to be determined.
