Ken Campbell says the Rangers' Matt Rempe can't hit without hurting someone, can't fight and can't produce, which pretty much precludes him from playing in the best league in the world.
Matt Rempe and Dylan McIlrath fightI once had a former one-dimensional enforcer approach me at an NHL event and tear a strip off me for denigrating his ilk of hockey player.
"I worked hard and sacrificed everything to get to the NHL," he said.
My response: "So what? All players work extremely hard and make tremendous sacrifices to get to the NHL. That's the bare minimum. You took up a roster spot of a more useful player who worked every bit as hard as you did."
Full disclosure: I have no time for one-dimensional enforcers in hockey. I have no time for Matt Rempe. But even those who champion players of this kind in the NHL have to be wondering what he is doing there, no?
