Ottawa (17-23-7) at Washington (31-15-4), 12:30 p.m. EST

WASHINGTON (Ticker) -- All-Star Alex Ovechkin overcame an injury

scare, while his team hurdled another tough test.

The reigning Hart Trophy winner and the Washington Capitals look

to earn another victory when they host the Ottawa Senators on

Sunday.

Ovechkin scored twice within a 76-second span late in the third

period Saturday, lifting the Capitals to a 4-2 victory over the

slumping Detroit Red Wings.

Ovechkin took over the NHL lead with 33 goals. He also ranks

third in points with 63.

The Russian gave the Capitals a scare when he crashed into the

boards in the second period of Tuesday's 3-2 overtime loss to

the Boston Bruins. He suffered a stinger that caused him to

miss practice the following day.

Ottawa, which has alternated wins and losses over the last four

games, is coming off a 1-0 setback to the Columbus Blue Jackets

on Friday.

After this contest, the Senators start a three-game homestand,

which begins Tuesday against the Los Angeles Kings.
