NEW YORK, N.Y. - Rangers centre Brian Boyle missed New York's game against the Florida Panthers on Thursday night because of a right leg injury and is expected to sit out at least two more critical contests in the drive to the playoffs.

Boyle was injured in the first period of the Rangers' 4-2 loss at Philadelphia on Tuesday night and didn't return. New York coach John Tortorella said Thursday that Boyle would also be sidelined for a game at Buffalo on Friday and at home against New Jersey on Sunday.

The 28-year-old Boyle has two goals and three assists in 38 games this season, his fourth with the Rangers.

Chris Kreider, recalled from Connecticut of the AHL on Wednesday, took his place in the lineup Thursday.
