The Canadiens' forward took a shot off his right hand/arm area during Friday's Winter Classic. The team announced soon after that he suffered an upper body injury.

The same day the Habs saw Brendan Gallagher return after missing 17 games with a hand injury, they lost forward Dale Weise.

According to TVA's Renaud Lavoie, Weise will miss Montreal’s next 5-10 games.

The 27-year-old left the Canadiens 5-1 win on Friday in the second period after taking a cross check from Bruins defenseman Kevan Miller. While falling, Weise took a shot off his right hand/arm area. During the game, the Habs announced Weise would not return due to an upper body injury.

Weise is in the middle of his best season offensively. He’s already set a personal best with 11 goals and his 20 points are nine shy of matching his career-high (29) set last season.

Montreal begins life without Weise on Tuesday when they conclude an eight-game road trip in Philadelphia.
